Today was Rowan's first kindergarten field trip! I was so excited to be able to go with her - I haven't been able to participate with Killian's classes as much as I would have liked to because I could never bring Rowan along, so now with her in school too I am free to volunteer for both kids classrooms. I am really excited about that, and Rowan was super happy that I was able to join them and meet all her friends.
We rode the bus to a local pumpkin patch, and I sat behind Rowan and her friend Alicia. It was so cute to listen to them giggle together the whole way there:

Our first stop at the pumpkin patch was a play area. There was a huge play structure, a tepee made out of corn stalks, and a bunch of half buried tractor tires:

The kids ran around like wild heathens for a while (its amazing how loud 3 classes of kindergartners can be!) before sitting down in the barn for a presentation about all the different kinds of pumpkins and gourds that the farm grows:

Then it was off to play again! They went down some big slides:

Saw some little cows:

Rowans class gathered up on a hay pyramid to take a picture with their teacher:

Then it was time for a hayride!

The little boy that is sitting next to Rowan is Alexis, otherwise known as Rowans first crush. I never realized it was possible, but Rowan is pretty much infatuated with this little fella. She has been talking about him nonstop since the start of school, and each day she gets home she has some little story to tell about him. That he got a haircut, that he was wearing a really soft sweater that day, that he sat next to her at circle time and tickled her arm, that he had black boots on, that he tagged her in gym class....the stories go on and on. She just lights up when she talks about him, and I think the biggest reason she wanted me to go on the field trip was so I could meet him. And then it turned out that he was in the group of kids that I was keeping track of, so he was going to be with us for each of the activities. I am not sure if I have ever seen a bigger smile on that girls face. Young love....it's priceless.

Notice who is standing next to Rowan....awwwww.
All too soon it was time to head back to the buses for the ride home. Rowan snagged a seat with Alicia again, and their teacher joined them for the ride. I absolutely adore her teacher - she is firm but kind to the kids, and really genuinely likes Rowan and is excited to see her succeed.
