Health Nut

Sugar is about 4 months old now, and along with puppy cuteness and silly antics also comes teething...lots and lots of teething. She is incredibly good about not chewing things that don't belong to her - we haven't had to pick up shoes or protect any wood table legs or anything else around the house. But she does need an outlet for all that uncomfortableness in her mouth, so we try to give her lots of puppy appropriate chew toys. We have some raw cow bones that we got from our 1/2 share the year before last, and she absolutely loves those. Unfortunately until our next meat purchase fills up our freezer, good quality bones are in short supply so we have to ration them carefully. So we have come up with another great chew toy for her - its cheap, crunchy and super healthy. It's... a carrot!

One happy health conscious puppy:

It feels soooooo good on those gums!

For maximum chewing power, Sugar gets into her froggy pose:

Unfortunately, she hasn't mastered actually eating the carrot...so this is the aftermath of her chewing adventures:

Lol. I would much rather clean this up than to find that she has turned our sneakers into rags, so I can't complain too much. I am just happy that a lowly carrot can do such a great job of keeping her pain free and occupied. Who knew vegetables could be so versatile?
