Peacock Lane

Tonight we made our annual visit to Portland's Peacock Lane! This is one of my favorite Christmas traditions, mostly because I grew up going there, and now I get to take my kids too. It really hasn't changed much at all over the years so you might think we would get bored of it, but strolling down the streets looking at the beautiful lights and sipping a warm cup of hot cocoa just fills us with the holiday spirit. There were lots of beautifully lit houses, these were some of our favorites.

This one had tons of lights, maybe the most on the whole street:

Same house, looking through the candy cane archway:

This one was pretty, although the Sponge Bob kind of ruined it for me:

I loved the little Santa boot lights at this house:

Simple, but one of my favorites:

The Dr. Seuss Grinch house has been my very favorite since I was a kid. I love the message, and its a good reminder to keep the holidays in perspective and remember the real reason we are celebrating:

Apparently its very popular to see the lights of Peacock Lane via a limousine - we saw at least 5 of them in the short time we were there:

This was neat, I had no idea Peacock Lane has been going for so many years!

The next to last house on the street, another simple but pretty one:

We had taken Sugar along with us and she did so good! Its fun to take her to things like this with us, and have her part of all the new holiday memories we are making this year.
