Seeing Santa

Tonight we made our annual trip downtown to visit Santa and see the Christmas tree in Pioneer Place. The kids were really excited about it, mostly because they remembered that we always make a stop at Starbucks to get them hot chocolate ;)

Our first stop was Santa Land at Macy's. Rowan was SO excited to see him, and has been talking about this visit for weeks. She had planned on wearing one of her fancy dresses, but I told her that they probably wouldn't let us take pictures with our own camera so she wore comfy clothes instead. Then when we got there, there was nobody else in line and they said we could take as many pictures as we wanted. Shoot! I felt so bad, because I knew she had really wanted to dress up. Luckily, she was so happy to see him that she forgot all about it.

After she told Santa what she was hoping for (a baby doll) we wandered through the rest of Santa Land. The kids checked out the old monorail cars and the big model train village:

After they were done looking around, they practically dragged us down the block to Starbucks. They got their hot chocolates, and picked out a cake pop too!

The tree was beautiful! It is usually decorated with white lights and looks pretty plain and boring, but this year it had colored lights and was so pretty!

Matthew and I, and a whole ton of strangers (Killian figured out the camera buttons just as the max train let out).

We didn't linger long, as it was a cold night and getting late. We did stop just long enough for me to take this picture of Matthew and Rowan. Both of them sporting their Christmas head gear, looking cuter than ever together:

One of my favorite things about the holiday season is all the traditions that our family has together. While this is a simple one, its also one of my favorites. I just love the feeling that permeates the air downtown this time of year and I especially enjoy sharing that magic with my very favorite people!
