What a wonderful Christmas day we had this year! We planned things differently this time so that we didn't have to go anywhere or have anybody come over, so it was just our family at home all day long. I loved it and will absolutely be making this a tradition every year to come - it is so nice to just sit around on our own time schedule, enjoying each others company and all the kids news toys. They loved not having to leave their new stuff behind to go somewhere too, and I think we all loved sitting in our jammies all day long!
I told Killian that he couldn't wake us up or go into the living room before 8am, and sure enough at 7:59 on the dot he came barging in declaring that he had been awake for 2 hours and it was time to open those presents! Rowan woke up with all the commotion, and we got ready for the big reveal. We always have them stay in the bedroom so that we can get prepared with the camera to capture their first expressions on film.

I am so glad we do, because I love the look on Rowans face when she looks under the tree!

Killian is trying to play it cool, but I can tell he is super excited by the huge grin on his face:

They immediately ran to their stockings:

And found all sorts of wonderful treasures waiting for them:

Next they read the note that Santa had left them (a reminder to Santa - don't write in your letter what the presents are and how much you hope they will enjoy them...it totally ruins the surprise when they haven't opened them yet!).

After they read the note and saw the cookie crumb proof themselves that he had indeed been there, they decided to help Sugar open the presents that Santa had left for her. We brought her X-pen out into the living room, because we didn't want her running loose and putting everything in her mouth, but we did want her to be with us for the excitement:

She was so excited about her new toys and immediately got to work chewing on them!

Santa presents were next! Killian got a bunch of Lego Kingdom sets, and Rowan got the bath time baby doll and accessory set that she had been hoping for:

Good job Santa! The kids were thrilled with everything you brought. ;)
After a quick breakfast, they dove right in and set to work unwrapping everything they got. Rowan loved this lion hat:

And her big stuffed tiger pillow pet:

Killian started unwrapping this package:

And then did a double take and checked the tag when he saw it was a beer box. He said he thought it was supposed to be for dad instead!

Rowan got really excited to see some new books in some of those present boxes:

And was even more excited to see a Zoobooks magazine with a one year subscription!

Killian was super stoked to see the Playmobil camper that he had had his eye on:

As well as a huge Playmobil vet center, which you cant really see in this picture, but its definitely there!

Rowan got some big playmobil sets too, her favorite was the African wildlife care station:

As the morning wore on, Rowan got some help opening her presents from ones that she had already unwrapped:

More playmobil sets:

And then the big finale! This was addressed to both of them, and they had absolutely no idea what it was until they opened the box and saw the Xbox logo:

They were so excited to see their very own Kinect in there!

They got right to work setting that up, and having tons of fun playing some wild cat game that Matthew had got for them:

When they lost interest they set themselves up at the kitchen island for some Lego and Playmobil building. They had each gotten quite a few sets, and had a great time getting them put together and set up:

And no post would be complete without some adorable pictures of little Sugar! She had so much fun with her new toys, and of course, running around and checking out what new toys the big kids had gotten!
Sugar with her Christmas bunny:

And her new Christmas goose. You honkin at me?

The rest of the day was absolutely wonderful - we lounged around together, building and playing with the kids new toys, watched a movie and then played some more. I hope all future Christmases are just as much fun as this one was, though its going to be a hard to top it. I love my family so much...Merry Christmas everyone!
