Science Fair Project

This is the second year that Killian has been old enough to participate in his schools science fair, and he has spent the last couple of weeks trying to think of the perfect topic for his project. After scouring the internet and not finding anything that sparked his curiosity, he came up with a topic all on his own. Sponge versus Sponge! He decided to take a synthetic sponge of a specific size, and measure how much water it could hold versus a natural sponge of the same size. He laid out all his supplies and got to work:

First, he soaked up water with the man made sponge, and squeezed out the contents into his collection cup:

Next up was the natural sea sponge:

After he went through both sponge soakings three times, he charted his findings, typed up his hypothesis, results and conclusion, and put it all together on his science board:

He did a really great job with the whole project, and when I stopped by the school for the science fair today, several of the teachers were really impressed with his work. I am so proud of him for always giving projects like this 110%, and ending up with a finished project that he can be proud of. I know I sure am proud of him!!
