Mothers Day

We had a very quiet Mother's Day today. Its just the kids and I, so I didn't get the usual pampering and laid back day that I usually have when Matthew is here. I even had to make my own breakfast - how horrible!! The kids did their best to make it a nice day for me though. Rowan made sure I knew how much she loved me at every turn by decorating the house with these cute little messages:

She is such a little cutie. Both kids made me sweet little cards and trinkets - legos from Killian, bracelets from Rowan. I am so blessed to have such fantastic kids!

I do have one of the best Mother's Day presents I could have asked for though - plane tickets to go see Matthew! The kid and I are leaving in just a couple days to spend nearly two weeks in the Twin Cities with Matthew. We are so excited! His company is paying for the airplane tickets, and since they already have him set up in an apartment with a rental car, we really don't have to pay for anything but food and expenses. I have been researching for weeks, and we have a long list of fun things to see and do....Mall of America, here we come!

Even better than playing tourist will be the chance to be together as a family again. We have missed Matthew so much, its really so hard to put into words how big of a hole is left when your best friend is physically missing from your day to day life. We talk on the phone every night, and he is here for a day and a half every two weeks, but its not nearly enough. I am really looking forward to the simple things, like waking up next to him and having dinner together as a family again. After 2 1/2 months without him home, seeing him everyday for the next 13 days is going to be so wonderful.
I couldn't ask for anything more for Mother's Day than the chance to have my family together again.
