Tanya's son Trevor joined the kids, dog and I for a lazy day at Sauvie's Island. This is one of our favorite places to go to play in the water during summer because it's rarely crowded during the week and there is lots of room to run - for kids and dogs!
Both the kids and the dog wasted no time in diving right in!

There were many games of follow the leader - Sugar is happy to follow these kids wherever they go!

For some reason, the kids thought the dog wasn't quite wet enough...so they gave her a hand in the form of a bucket full of river water!

Of course, Sugar got wet enough all on her own too. She had a great time fetching sticks. This girl can swim!
Wet happy dog, with stick!
More random pictures of wet river fun:
Right when we were getting ready to leave, we spotted a huge barge coming down the river. They always make huge waves as they go past, so we decided we could leave just yet and the kids huddled in the water, waiting...waiting...waiting:
Waves!!
The waves were so big and strong that Killian got knocked off his feet! Luckily the water was shallow and he was able to get right back up and keep on wave jumping with Trevor and Rowan:
The kids and dog were all thoroughly exhausted by the time we loaded up into the car for the ride home, and I didn't hear a peep out of any of them the whole way. Sun, sand, water and friends. It's the magic recipe for an amazing (and tiring!) summer adventure!
