Sleepover!

My niece Sophia came over for a sleepover last night, and the kids have had a wonderful time playing together. We got home from picking her up around dinner time yesterday, so we didn't have time to do anything more than pizza and a movie before I shuffled them off to bed. This morning when they woke up the first thing they did was hit the PlayDoh. It has some kind of weird hold on them, and they pulled everything out and put it all away at least 4 times during her visit!

Killian made a dune buggy, notice the roll bars in the back:

We did a few craft projects, mostly involving turkeys. I had bought some wooden turkeys that the kids colored and then we added a ribbon to the back so they could hang them. We also cut out brown hand prints and glued feathers to them to make the classic turkey craft we all learn in kindergarten. Rowan especially enjoyed this one, she loves so much to drawn and do art projects lately:

All the finished crafts. Killians is on the top, Rowan is bottom left, Sophia is bottom right:

We had a lot of feathers, and some brown paper left over, so we decided to make some feather headbands. We tried gluing the feathers, but it quickly became clear that was going to become a huge sticky mess, so we decided on the stapler instead. Killian and Sophia were very involved in this one, while Row couldn't have cared less. Killian eventually got her to make a hat, and helped her with her feathers.

All the little turkeys together:

When they had finished crafts, they played dress up for a while. I think they were all some version of a robber, although it was hard to tell for sure in the costumes they came up with. They moved fast, but I snapped a picture of Rowan with her most intimidating face:

After lunch we pulled the sugar cookie dough that I had made that morning out of the fridge (I learned my lesson from last time, and our dough was well chilled)! We used cookie cutters in the shapes of leaves and acorns, and the kids did a great job cutting them out:

Frosting them:

And of course, eating them!

We all had a great time having Sophia here this weekend. We haven't seen her much in the past year, I think its only been the 3 times that we have seen Mike and Kami that we have spent any time with Sophia. We have really missed her, so I am happy to have worked out a monthly visit plan with her mom. I like having another girl in the house....it gives us the majority over the boys!
